Hmmm. I guess one crucial point I left out was that I wanted to make both purchases on the same machine (due to convenience) and just move my copy to my computer later. I just want them to be unique because I tend to use my personal computer sometimes on our network to get things done faster and I don’t want any network conflicts.
This is really strange to say the least, I need to buy several for the office as well and we’re not setting up an Apple ID for each seat.

Thanks. I am familiar in that I have an old videonics mixer and recently purchased one from datavideo for a coworker.. I just hadn’t come across “ATEM” and wasn’t certain that those letters stood for.

No luck for me. I have latest FCP and FxFactory. I deactivated Perian (or rather uninstalled). I can’t get some of my clips (from Lumix GH1) to import. I keep getting an error.
Any other advice.

That’s an interesting idea. Yes, it’s part of a very long take; think wall mural – several walls. I think what I may do is find my constant – the speed that I like most in a particular section of the raw footage. Then place a tracking point on the footage (with a dot or something to see it) and see how long it takes for that tracking point to reach one edge of my frame to the other edge. Based on that time, I’ll place tracking points at the first frame I think the speed of the raw footage changes and then adjust the speed of the clip within the size of moving in image off the frame and another on (as in above using the edge-to-edge tactic).
This is not ideal and it confines me to working at the size of the frame for the duration I can do this each time. Though Apple Motion makes these operations pretty easy for me. I know my explanation may seem convoluted, but it makes sense in my head.

Thanks for the response. I know that it was intentionally made. I guess what I am really asking is how is that to be reconciled? Will it ever return? My concern is that people purchase your products based on having certain features to work with their workflow. It’s disconcerting to spend money on any product based on the sum of it’s features and then have some of those features stripped from you. I think that’s a reasonable assertion.

I’ve gone through all of the checks and balances (equalizing settings) really even before I posted. The only succesful solution for me was to render all twelve episodes as quicktimes with their audio mix, reimport them and line them up on one timeline and export that as one massive quicktime.
This is the only way everything stayed in sync. Just nesting each episode and placing those nested versions back to back on a timeline only stay in sync during playback in FCP, not on a Quicktime export.
Wish it weren’t this way, but it’s the only solution that worked and allowed my to create a perfect Blu-Ray with sync audio.

Good idea. I did that and although the hard drives were going crazy running the OS and apps from final cut studio, this method didn’t allow me to use the Blu-Ray burner in my mac pro.
Honestly the remote dvd sharing hasn’t worked very well for me over a network – its been flaky.
I got the project done though. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not doing much serious editing remotely. I am just nesting sequences and lining them up on one timeline. Since the project is spread over three internal terabyte drives, it was easier to bring the machine home since I have no way of connecting the three to my MacBook Pro otherwise. I don’t like that the apps ignore memory that is actually there just because a monitor is not connected; being that the memory is in the video card, but i understand why.
There is a workaround I found on macosxhints.com, but it may only acknowledge 64 MB of memory.
