  • I had this problem.

Be sure to use the preferences of XDCam Tranfer, not the preferences of FCP.

If you use the correct preferences and still get the problem, then I hope somebody else can help you.

  • This was probably a wrong import setting i preferences of XDCAM Tranfer.

The settings in FCP is not relevant when importing XDCAM EX-files.

So what has this PAL/NTCS thing to do with me?

I don´t think that my video will be broadcasted. I make DVDs, Blu-rays (in the future) or directly on HDD mediaplayers to show it on a flatscreen (HD or HD-ready).

My media player (Tvix) has settings for automatically switching between PAL and NTCS.

I know that there are differenses between PAL and NTCS regarding resolution and frame speed.

But if I want to use 30 fps on my EX1 in PAL country. Does it really matter?

Now I have got the camera and have tested it in various situations.

Seems that “Slow shutter” with various number of frames are essentially the same as longer shutter speeds, just called something different.

Blurring is very noticable, but since changes in the picture happens in long intervals, I really do not know when to use the function. Non-moving objects in poor light of course, but as soon as something is moving it really looks strange. Some people may have use for it.

Anyway, it is a great camera, and thanks for your answers.

    Solved it.

Choose both folders in Transfer tool, select both clips and use the buttons in the logging pane, but I had to scroll down to the bottom to see them.

Yes, how do I stitch these clips together? I haven´t found a stitch button or function.

    Thanks, Dan and Dave.

After uninstall and reinstall of Compressor, I tried again. Didn´t work at first. Then I followed the advice to set destination to desktop and to another drive, and it worked as expected!

I understand exporting to a ref movie, but are there any drawbacks with exporting directly for FCP to Compressor, now when I have it working?

    Hi, Dan,

Thanks for advice. Too bad that sending from FCP is not good, since it worked very well in Final Cut Studio 1. I thought it is preferred, since it is said to give less of generationlosses by doing so. It will also complicate the workflow.

I have found the Apple recommendations how to uninstall and reinstall Compressor and I will do that, even if your advices works.
