My first attempts with my new Sony EX1 workflow has stopped in Compressor. It just fails after 0 seconds.

I hope that this is the correct forum for this question.

In the end of the log it says:

    mrk tms=”225905230.609″ tmt=”02/28/2008 16:27:10.609″ pid=”5755″ kind=”end” what=”service-request” req-id=”38F1C745-C775-444A-BC8A-142AC62A317A:5″ msg=”Preflighting service request error: INVOKING METHOD OR ACCESSING MEMBER FOR NULL REFERENCE”>

I have tried many different codecs – prores, h264, mpeg2 for DVD … all of which give the same result.

Are you sending from FCP to Compressor? If so, try exporting a QT ref, and then opening compressor as a stand alone appliccation. The “Send To” is no good really. Either takes forever or crashes. Also try targetting a different drive, maybe the desktop and also reset background encoding in compressor.

    Hi, Dan,

Thanks for advice. Too bad that sending from FCP is not good, since it worked very well in Final Cut Studio 1. I thought it is preferred, since it is said to give less of generationlosses by doing so. It will also complicate the workflow.

I have found the Apple recommendations how to uninstall and reinstall Compressor and I will do that, even if your advices works.

    Thanks, Dan and Dave.

After uninstall and reinstall of Compressor, I tried again. Didn´t work at first. Then I followed the advice to set destination to desktop and to another drive, and it worked as expected!

I understand exporting to a ref movie, but are there any drawbacks with exporting directly for FCP to Compressor, now when I have it working?
