What are the pros and cons to archive (in the near future) on XDCAM disks compared to Blu-ray? Speed, ease, cost? I suspect XDCAM is more expensive …

Yes, that is how it works.

Therefore you have better do the Motion work first, and do the color stuff in the end.

You have it described in the manual, all the FCP things Motion doesn´t keep.

    Thanks for the clarifications, Craig.

We just have to wait for the coming upgrades, haven´t we?. FCPUG IBC Supermeet: Paul Saccone, latest developments with Final Cut Pro didn´t say anything about EX metadata, but a lot about the Red One workflow and it´s metadata.

Let´s hope our wishes will come through – Christmas is less than a month away …

Jeremy, that was the case – for some reason I believed that everything was rendered, but it wasn´t.

Stupid of me – sorry to have bothered.

Thank you guys for your answers.

I will continue with converting to .m2t for the time being. I takes around 10x real time compared to 3x for XDCAM, but it is working …

    Hi, Michael,

Yes, I keep the BPAV folders – on HHD and DVD-DL. But I had 300 clips spread out on 300 BPAV folders – so I had to extract the clips for the customer.

So you mean that there is no EX codec for Windows? If so the only way for me is to choose the best way to send to my customer.

I thought of uncompressed (works?), H.264 (works), MPEG-2 (works).
I suppose that uncompressed maybe too heavy on the customers equipment.
Both H.264 and MPEG-2 are Long-GOP codecs, like XDCAM, is that a good thing?

I mostly encode from XDCAM EX to H.264 or to MPEG-2. When getting this outburst of frustration I was encoding to .m2t .

OK, perhaps it is not good to make the comparison with the Red.

The problem with the Fujinon lens is the resolution in max telephoto. Even when using iris 6.7 or 8 resolution in the edge of the pic is poor. In the centre it is very good.

And when I bought the camera, wildlife was not essential. But now it seems that customers want more wildlife than I expected. So good telephoto is important.

I will soon send the camera for upgrading of firmware and the battery drain issue. I will point out the poor edge resolution when doing that and see if it is of any good.

    Thanks for the feedback.
