o.k. Thanks for the replies. Let me rephrase this though.I bought a 6600gt for $250 mainly for its dual dvi(monitors) outputs(which I will never need probably). When I could of got a $129 256mb ati with the same dual output(although I do need a cheap dvi adapter blah blah. Should I got return it and get the ati?

Yes main factor is just dual monitor support. Come to find out I don’t need dvi.If there is no performance difference then I should get a cheaper card right?.

wow, really. Plosives are p’s, t’s, b’s, d’s. Don’t know the exact definition. I have no clue what syllabytes are(nor how to spell it correctly) which is probably why I came up with nothing on yahoo search(thus resorting to this forum).

I figured it out. Anyone who searches this topic, ensure you are set for dv-ntsc 4:3. More importantly make sure you field render(lower first for ntsc).

I’m guessing we are talking about shooting with the editor in mind, as oppossed to shooting it self.

To kind of touch on some things that have been said…editing is mathmatics as well as an art. I can’t stress how important(in documenteries) it is to allow time for an interviewer to finish speaking before a subject speaks. Allow time after a subject speaks before the interviewer ask the next question. Three seconds I say atleast. This allows for cross fades in audio.

Other than that pet peeve.. for me, I’m a big fan of roomtone. Continuity in sound is vital.

The rest can be taken care of in post(by a good editor).

If it is well advised not to do it, then I won’t. You make it seem like a monster is going to come out and eat me, so I won’t.

I got the book Instant vegas 5. Little hard to follow at times. Messing around with demo. As stated before, I definately love certain things about vegas(color correct/audio tools/certain aspects of workflow). Still can’t get over the UI. Is there no way to move the timeline to the bottom and monitor to the top? I assume not. Think the biggest thing I need to get used to is trimming and basic effects. Used to just doing a manual crossfade in p.pro. Tryed to do it in vegas and had way to many options. If there is one thing I learned though, it is the the more options you have.. the more creative you can be. Like comparing motion to AE. If you can get past that initial learning curve the creative opportunities are endless.

another solution I just realized I could do is to razor the last part of a clip or the first part of the other clip and move it up or down a track then do the transition.

Actually what I had to do was put my conformed audio files back on my internal drive in p.pro folder.
Thanks for the advice. I’m sure I will need it soon.
