I have exactly the same problems with one of my players. All factory-made DVD movies without any problem. Only my own with DVDA3 created DVDs have this – all of them. But it is an old player and so I thought this might be the problem. Have to try Encore when I have time.

I told you it will help to change the Book Type. Here more information:

So no need at all to give up your DVD+R.

It will increase the compatibility with DVD drives/players if you set the booktype to DVD-ROM. Most burner producing companies provide a utility for changing the booktype of a DVD. At my drive I set it once and it does it automatically for every burned DVD.

    Dear Gary Kleiner,

Somehow I start to feel guilty because of all the problems I cause to Vegas 😉 But it is good to know that at least you did not have any problems similar to mine. Too me the problems meant a lot of hard time. Perhaps it has nothing to do with 6.0c or 6.0d and is a still open Vegas problem – in 7.0. But it is good to hear that you can load projects of releases before. So I know that from the idea it has to work. And I will not give up to try the same 🙂

    Best Regards,

    Peter

  • The concept of Media Manager is not bad. And you are right that Media Manager should tell me that the file is offline. But this you see in the properties of the media already! No need to bring two annoying popups that it wants to look for the media and for the rest of your life there will be a red line accross the media. I did not want to load the media but simply want to look at the properties – tags and storage location. When you press cancel after the 1st and after the 2nd annoying popup (there are 2) it works. But never mix up the cancel buttons – the red line will be on the media for sure and for ever. No way to get rid of it without reindexing the media or restoring a backup of the medialib file. And the funny part of this concept is that even if all of your media is offline the red line only shows up on media where you ever clicked on it on whatever day before. If you never clicked on it it will be show as online 😉

I will look around for a MM without this “special feature”. If anybody has a good software I would be very greatful for a hint.

  • I have many, many media files in the Media Manager. I do not have most of the media on my HDs but many on DVDs – would fill up my HDs many times for mostly history. So most of the media ends up with the offline red line – apart from the annoying pop-up asking you where to look for it. Does not look good in an application trying to help you to manage your media.

If you are not a MM user yourself, do you know an application handling this topic in a better way? I am really tired of this offline behavior. Would like to know what the developers at Sony use. Cannot be the MM 😉

  • Have to correct something. The letter/color problem is not caused by DVD Architect. I tried the same settings at Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 and got the same problem. Perhaps something for Microsoft or is it even my graphic card? But in any case a not so good color idea at least at my system.

  • Now I have tried several software players. They ALL show EXACTLY the same problems with the text. The only software player that does not show the problems is the player in DVD A3. Perhaps some work to do… Should look at chapter jumps too 😉

The wav file is great. But it is not real DVD standard and takes up a lot of space – but SHOULD work – mostly. I am not a friend of stereo ac3. DVD Architect 3 forgets completely PAL where mpeg as sound is allowed – and renders again and again. I am still guessing if they do not know… If you want to stick to your wav make sure that DVD Architect does not render it – under File > Optimize DVD.

  • I do not use N ever T he S ame C olor. I use PAL – the last step before HDTV 😉 And the problem is not only with simple text. The text works as buttons too. Then it gets not so easy anymore with Photoshop and DVD A. But I am not sure where the problem really comes from – DVD A or the playback devices. WinDVD does not work at all on my system (XP SP2) – at least not the latest version. Got tired of checking why… So I use PowerDVD on the computer. Have to look for a software DVD player I can compare with – at least on the computer side. But this topic must cause problems to the big DVD companies too. Perhaps I find a phone number 🙂
