I do not use it, but I have tried it.
As soon as you connect the USB cable, OS X will show a preference pane in the preferences
window with options for the APC UPS.I do not remember why I disconneted it. There was something I didn’t like about it, but that
was more of a personal preference than anything else. The unit works as is advertised.

We use the same APC unit Bob told you to get. I think I replied to your post as well.
The 1500 is plenty. We have a Mac, and Xserve Raid and CRT monitor hooked up to each UPS.In case of a power failure the battery is not going to last for an hour or two, but enough
minutes for you to save and close all apps.Stuart Ferreyra

Ecinema Systems had a box that calibrated Apple Cinema Displays for accurate color correction.
After talking to the CEO a few months ago, the company he decided to stop making the box because Apple started using cheaper components, specially the LCD screens. I would not trust an Apple monitor for HD color correction.
And although, Panasonic and JVC has broadcast monitors they are not completely accurate
for color grading either. They are close, but not really there.Sony had the upper hand as the standard in the industry. I really wanted Sony to come up
with a new line of reference grade monitors this NAB. Nothing.Ecinema has a new line of professional reference grade LCD monitors. The older models
were $10,000 for a 23′. Now they have a 23′ and 40″. I do not know prices.Stuart Ferreyra

We run our FinalTouch HD systems with the X800XT cards. If they will work with Color who knows. We’ll find out soon.
In the beginning, we started color grading with the mouse. After a few feature films and other long form projects, we decided to get the panels. The wrists really take a beating with the mouse under long sessions.
I would recommend getting the panels if you decide to make color grading a serious part of your career or business.
They don’t come cheap, but they will definately make the work a lot easier. And remember that one panel doesn’t do it all (Tangent Devices), unless you buy the CP100.

We ususally code the tape starting at 00:57:50:00 and set up our timeline to start at 00:58:00:00.
Add a minute of bars, a slate and the remaining seconds of black all the way to your fist show frame at 01:00:00:00
Then, we edit to tape (with machine control & assemble) starting at 00:58:00:00 (just like
your output timeline) and your FCP timeline’s timecode should exactly match your tape’s.Hope it works….

Call AJA again. I believe there is a delay issue and must be set manually.
I do my best not to work with HDV. Everytime we have, it’s been a hassle.Stuart Ferreyra
