Thanks Craig, I’ve never sent files to a non-FCP person before. I went ahead and sent a drive with everything on it.

My first 8Gb cards were around $500 each. However, compare that with the original price of P2, about $1000 a Gig.

October 7, 2010 at 7:05 am in reply to: What to set ISO to when reading light meter?

Maybe I’m missing something but this seems like a case of using some common sense to arrive at a somewhat simple answer.

It would seem to me that you could set the lens to a certain F-stop like 5.6. Then, change the ISO on your meter until it tells you that your lens should be properly set at 5.6. Note your ISO and use that in the future.

The problem with using the zebra is that you have to move the camera around in order to check exposure.

[Scott Sheriff] “Not just the young employees, that can’t bother to show up for work, but the young customers that routinely damage equipment, can’t return it on time, and then have a cavalier attitude because it doesn’t belong to them, and “that’s what insurance is for”.”

Tell me about it. I had an employee that took some gear to a personal shoot and broke a monopod. He showed it to me and when I asked him how he was going to take care of it, he said “Well, at rental houses, you just throw it on the floor and they take care of it.” The nerve!

Have you asked the director why he wants to do this? Some just get the idea that it will now be at maximum quality when the human eye will never actually see the difference.

    Thanks Walter,

I have a burner already. What I need to know is whether I can replace the IDE unit with a SATA unit. This is a MAC Pro with PCI Express slots but it still had an IDE optical drive. I pulled the IDE drive and the computer would not boot.

By the way, I have an editor here working on a project and he asked me if I’d ever heard of Walt Biscardi, one of the top guys in the business. Small world.

So admit it. You jumped to the wrong conclusion and said some disparaging things to me.

My mistake is that I usually forget to “Quote” the person I am responding to but I did not say anything negative.
