I have a 2005 MacPro, non-intel Dual 2.5 and I want to replace the IDE DVD drive with a newer SATA BluRay burner. Where do I go for info on if this will work a how to do it?

    Thanks

FastMac is where I purchased my internal BluRay burner from. I’m thinking someone like them or anyone else who sells an internal BluRay burner for Mac is probably a good place to start.

    Thanks Walter,

I have a burner already. What I need to know is whether I can replace the IDE unit with a SATA unit. This is a MAC Pro with PCI Express slots but it still had an IDE optical drive. I pulled the IDE drive and the computer would not boot.

By the way, I have an editor here working on a project and he asked me if I’d ever heard of Walt Biscardi, one of the top guys in the business. Small world.

First off you need to clarify your system. You say you have a “MacPro, non-intel”. That cannot be as ALL MacPro’s are have intel processors. Are referring to a old PPC?

Too funny and I’m definitely not one of the “top guys in the business.” Just another editor having fun like you guys.

Tell them I said hey! 🙂
