We have exactly the same problem with our G-5 Quad but not with our dual 2.7. We just took delivery on a MacPro dual 3.0. We’ll keep you posted on that one.

Just wondering if anyone had any type of magical work around. It seems as though as soon as you don’t have deck control, all TC functions are lost. On capture now, it should still read the TC through the RS-422 connection but that is gone too. Apple is completely asleep on this one. One of the biggest tools in the pro world is TC and we don’t have it.
The media management problems are enough to make ya crazy.

There is a device on the back of the camera that supplies Video, Audio and Time Code through the same cable. Our problem is that FCP does not read the code unless it is controlling a tape deck. This is insane as we have been able to do this for the last 10 years with Discreet Edit* As soon as you tell FCP that there is no deck control, it refuses to read TC. I had just wodered if anyoine had a work around for this. For now, we use a Time Code slate and work the math.

A $30 tripod isn’t going to do much for you, UNLESS, you put the camera on it and then hold it in front of you, competely collapsed, letting it “float” a little bit. You can also do the same with a mono-pod. This may sound a little silly at first but try it and then get back to us. Neither of the scenarios you suggest is going to solve your problem.
You may also want to check the spelling of stabilize vs. stabalize. Correct spelling is very important if you ever want someone to take you seriously. When people send me resumes, I toss them in the trash after catching the first typo and then I call the stupid, moronic idiot who sent it to me and tell them about it. Some resend a perfect resume right away and others call me an a-hole. They need to realize that if they have a “don’t care” attitude, we don’t want them anywhere near us.

I don’t know where this phrase came from. [Ty Ford] “I don’t know what “sample rate converted” refers to.” Anyway, I think I’ve got it now. AES is stereo pairs, not discreet channels.

We plan to use a Multibridge. The input for video is an HD-SDI connection. The input for audio is “4 x inputs on DB-25 for 8 Ch Sample rate converted”.
We need to take our mics into a mixer of some kind and it must have an output to a DB-25 connector”. So, I guess I’m a little gray on the “4 inputs being 8 channels.” Does this mean that it’s 4 stereo channels and not 8 discrete audio channels?
