Thanks Ty. However, we were looking for an AES/EBU output because want o feed an Apple tower with a Black Magic Multibridge Extreme. The inputs on the multibridge are HD-SDI, Analog dual XLR, and AES/EBU on a 25 pin. https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/multibridge/specs/
Thanks also for the info on the 48K vs 96K audio. I’ve had directors tell me that they can’t work in anything but 96k and now I know the difference. Final Cut maxes out at 48k.
One unit we’re considering is the Presonus DigiMAX. It’s 8 channels of AES/EBU and we would use the FCP mixer for the levels.
Your opinion on the DigiMAX?

We pay $50 a month for our high speed internet and it saves us thousands in FedEx charges a year. I can e-mail a script to my vo guy who does a VO in his home studio and sends it to me finished, or I download it from his website. We have a huge corp client who we do a 30 minute quarterly program with the CEO. We send an H.264 QT file to our website and the clients offices, here and in Canada, can dowload it a few hours later and send their critique. They can load it on their iPod after that also. We used to send DVD’s to 51 offices. When we went to internet delivery, we billed the client for $200 x four times a year = $200 more than we pay for a year of very high speed cable internet. It cost them a lot more for us to print, package and FedEx 51 discs.
just figure out how you can get someone else to pay for it or how it can save you money, time and labor on shipping or delivery.

I would double the amount that you feel is fair because this guy is going to add things, one at a time, till you are doing twice the work anyway.
I have met with this guy twenty or thirty times during my career and had a bad feeling in my gut that paid off every time. He will want a NUMBER from you and he will squeeze you for all he can. Forget about future work unless he wants to give you an ironclad contract that YOUR lawyer approves of. Here’s the deal: When you rent a place that is 1 Month FREE, it’s always the last month. If he’s going to give you lots of work, give him the discount at the back end.
My real advice is to give him a big number and LOCK the number of hours. Oh yeah, the part where he is telling you that you can do it all yourself and you don’t need helpers, that’s because he doesn’t want you to sue over wages when he fails to pay. I just recently found out that when someone doesn’t pay legit wages, this is a violation of labor laws and carries treble damages. This is a big deal and will shut a business down. Pay a contract lawyer a few bucks for a contract that you can use for all of your clients. Ig they won’t sign, run away, quickly, because they have no intention of paying in full. Make sure the contract reads that ther are responsible for every dime. We’ve lost over $80,000 over the years a few hundred at a time. It doesn’t happen anymore.

You can buy blue light bulbs at a good camera store. Ask for “Daylight” or “5600K” bulbs. The come in short and long stem and cost less than $5. Ask for a bottle of focusing solution while you’re in there, too.

Misspelled words are a sign of someone who just doesn’t care. As for Tony’s incomplete sentence, did you or did you not get the full jist of what he was telling you using one word and three syllables? You probably would have stretched that out to a full paragraph or two. For pros, less is more. In a real movie, how often do people actually answer questions?

He wants to spend the big bucks to go with a 35mm print just to go to festivals? Festivals are quickly going to HDCAM and other media. The true cost of the transfer and a professional person’s time is around 40 to 50 thousand dollars. In the next year or two, BluRay will be the way to go. Write that down.
