I agree. You might have to work to find someone who knows what they’re talking about, but it’s necessary.

Nobody ever asks for a cone. It’s always spheres, cylinders, ribbons and tubes. 🙂

If you expect to render in fields, then a hit could show between frames. Otherwise, it would not, since digital video only displays discrete frames. But you knew that … 🙂

However, if you do expect to render fields, and you want to place markers between frames, and you’re in NTSC-land, try making a 59.94 fps comp, tap your beats, set your keys, then render to 29.97 fps with fields.

Haven’t tried it myself, though …

It could be that the synced animations that you’ve seen have the beats at some multiple of 30 beats per second, or have been time-stretched to make that happen.

    my 2 cents,

  • I recommend you use effect>stylize>Motion Tile to make a long strip of arrows. You might then be able to use bezier warp to displace the strip, or you could try Digital Anarchy’s Path Distort plugin.

Another option is to find an arrow dingbat and use the type tool (or Path Text effect)to make a string of them follow a path.

I used Echo Fire, and found it very useful … when it was required. Now, you don’t need EF if you just want FW out. Its scopes were useful, though. Now I use Decklink, and use the scopes in FCP when I need to, but generally, I just knock down the colours when I create them, choosing safe colours right from the start.

EF uses a different way of previewing, from disk, but if I recall, it’s just as fast as RAM preview. There’s a forum if you need to know more.

Sorry, I don’t have the Canopus, so I can’t comment. I’ve heard good things, though. 🙂

I lost the link. Call Maxon’s customer support. They’re quite friendly.

The last characteristic sounds like Microcosm from Digital Anarchy.
