Have you tried searching the COW on “crash” and “import”? One COW poster found the solution on the Adobe forums — it recommended that he update his nVidia graphics card drivers.

Mark Coleran uses AE for computer displays seen in James Bond movies and such, but he renders to the Quicktime Graphics codec, for low color depth, allowing for quick playback.
Since the colours in the GUI are simple, it’s not a big deal.
Unless I misunderstood …?

You can’t add or delete frames from the comp length without going to the comp settings and changing the comp length there.
You can’t add or delete frames from a layer, but you can trim a layer’s start or end point by going to the new start end point and hitting alt-{ or alt-].

For now, when you’re rendering, you can use both processors by rendering to an image sequence using two instances of AE simultaneously. Search the COW posts for “instances”.

Try searching the COW under “petals” or “leaves”.
For realism, though, you can’t beat a 3D app, because then the petal would rotate in 3 dimensions naturally.

Check the AE help: Keyboard shortcuts>Keys for modifying keyframes.
(I often answer questions this way to indicate that many answers can be found in the AE help before going to the COW.)

You might be running out of RAM. Try accessing the secret prefs by holding down the shift key when accessing the prefs — release shift when the dialog box appears. Try setting it to purge every 5 frames during Make Movie.
Keep windows task manager open to watch your RAM usage if you like.

Yeah, that sort of thing is nasty. This is where specific details in estimates are important. When you have the say, of course.
John’s right: GF is the classic app for that sort of thing, but you might want to check out Resizer.
