Well then. Apply the Stereo Mix effect to one track, and work your magic. Then apply it to the other tracks, but opt-click on the stopwatch for each side of that effect to create an expression, then pickwhip to the effect on the track where you keyframed the levels. This way the Stereo Mix effect on the other tracks will mimic the levels of the same effect on the first track.

[Michael Szalapski] “I mean you CAN edit audio in AE, but I also CAN cut steak with a spoon. It just takes a long time and is frustrating. “

… and it just annoys the steak.

Sounds like a particle thing, where each (static) particle is a movie of a growing blade of grass. I’d use Particular, but Particle Playground could probably do this as well. You may need to make multiple movies, each slightly offset in speed.

Motion Tile might work as well.
Or you could use Roughen Edges on a solid to fake the grass … maybe on multiple solids layered on top of each other.

What are you seeing, and what is the desired look?

Google “wire fu” for more information on the technique in general.

I would always do this in the 3D app. As Dave said, just replace the still surface texture image (or whatever it’s called in MAX) with a TGA image sequence (or AVI or whatever) wherever that still image appeared in your scene.

When you need to switch images, just replace the texture again and only render the object that uses the texture … then composite that over the original animation in AE.

I wouldn’t try to track something that gets so small (even tracking from large to small), especially since the scene is CG and you have access to the app that made it.

The “pro” way is to replace the texture and re-render in MAX, but rendering as little of the scene as possible if you’re under the gun for time.

You can’t stretch the corners of a layer in 3D — all layers must stay flat. However, you can use the corner pin effect to distort it within its own flat plane, then rotate it on one of the three 3D axes if you click the little 3D button first.

Be sure to make a 3D camera, though. Good shop practice, as they say.

The alternative is to buy the Freeform plugin.
