The torso needs to be blurred more than the leg, right? If the leg is 40 pixels wide, and the torso is eighty pixels wide, then a 20-pixel blur would be right for the leg, but not the torso. Also conside that the amount of blue needs to fall off in proportion to the shape of the body part. That is, if you have linear falloff from 0 to 100 for a “cylinder”, you are indicating to a displacement map that the cylinder is square, like a 4×4 turned 45 degrees, no?
Another way to look at it: the falloff would be different for these cross-sections: circular, elliptical and diamond (or rotated square). Using Curves can affect this (make the curve match the contour of the imagined cross-section), but you’d need a different falloff for different body parts. Too complicated.

Add a ramp, radial, white-to-black, or maybe keyframe a lens flare (105 prime, centered) to a high value?

Sometimes I’ve fixed odd TGA issues by doing that, defragging, or making sure that 24-bit is selected, not 32-bit (if that applies) … weird stuff like that.

Here’s a thought: shoot an dancer in a full gray leotard, standing, on a greenscreen background. Light that dancer from both sides so the body’s edges are white, but the center of each body mass falls off to black. Choreograph the dancer’s movements as if on an invisible vertical bed. This is why I suggest a dancer — they can be imaginative with their bodies.
Key out the dancer and use the resulting video as the displacement map in a real 3D app, or AE CS5 with Forge Freeform. You might have to invert the map.
It might work … I’d test it with a mannequin or action figure first. No, you can’t use my Franklin Delano Roosevelt action figure.

You could apply the wiggle expression to one axis (google wiggle Y axis expression). For the amp variable, you need to select it and pickwhip it to the slider value of an expression control effect which can be applied to the text layer or to a null layer. Then, finally, you animate the slider value from a high value to zero to make the text settle.
The animated slider effect controls the wiggle expression which controls the Y-position of the text.
If you want to see the wiggling text more than once over the running time of the comp, you may want to avoid applying the slider to a null — just apply the slider to the same layer as the text, get it right, then dupe the text layer and retype the text if necessary.

Are your audio files MP3? If so, then convert them to AIFF or WAV using Quicktime or something like that. Google “MP3 to WAV”.
Can you hear sound when you play a rendered movie in Quicktime?
Can you hear sound when you hit “.” on the NumPad?
Can you hear sound when you make a RAM preview, with the audio button on in the playback controls panel? -

Is Particular’s floor mode set to “infinite plane” and not “layer size”?
