I’m currently trying out a trial version of AE CS3 however I have a frustrating problem I can’t seem to figure out.

If I import any type of video that has audio (or even if I just import audio, such as a standard WAV file) I cannot get the audio to play in AE. Everything else appears to work fine, but audio just wont play. I can view the waveforms, so I know AE knows it’s audio,

    Please help!

There are two ways to play audio in the timeline:

    – hitting the . key on the numeric keypad (audio only)
    – making a RAM preview (audio and video)

Hitting the spacebar won’t play audio. In case you hit the spacebar.

    Did this help?

Are your audio files MP3? If so, then convert them to AIFF or WAV using Quicktime or something like that. Google “MP3 to WAV”.

Can you hear sound when you play a rendered movie in Quicktime?
Can you hear sound when you hit “.” on the NumPad?
Can you hear sound when you make a RAM preview, with the audio button on in the playback controls panel?
