  • After Effects does Targas quite nicely.

Did you render from AE with straight or premultiplied alpha?
If you import the TGAs back into AE, and view the alpha (the RGB/alpha switch at the bottom of the comp or footage window) do you see pure white (255 alpha, in other words)?
Can you try rendering alpha both ways, then seeing how your software imports the TGAs?

  • Nope. Once you import a project, it becomes independent, and is not linked to the old project. AE treats projects differently from footage, in other words.

Regarding your other question, I would import project A into Project B even if A wasn’t finished. Why? Because I could always finish A inside B.

But if I had more than one person working on a job, and Person A knew Project A, then I’d let him finish it before I (Person B) imported it into my Project B.

    Under the “effects>time” menu?

(if you hit F5, you can enter the name of the desired effect into the window to find it)

  • Did you switch on motion blur for both comp layers, and at the top of the main timeline?

There should be a COW thread on that. Search the COW under “track” and “vertex” or “track” and “vertices”, or “track” and “mask”.

Motion Blur only works with layers that are changing position/rotation/scale, or effects that specifically have MB as part of their controls.

You could precomp the Card Dance layer, then apply CC Force Motion Blur to it. If you’re using the comp camera, you probably need to include that in the precomp.

Or you could apply CC Force Motion Blur to an adjustment layer over the whole thing, probably.

Well, if you’re using a particle emitter to make the smoke, you could move the emitter, using an expression to tie it to the tracked point.

Just rotate z to 90 within the CC Cylinder effect. Your numbers will have to read sideways in the original layer as you suspected. You can precomp them and rotate them within the precomp.

Another way is to lay a black/white/black gradient (ramp) over the numbers. Make the ramp, then to get a black/white/black ramp, apply curves, then make the curve effect look like a parabola or triangle.

You can also search the COW for “odometer”.

Yes, but Kurt thanked us at the end of that post that didn’t start out so well.
