    No.

If it IS .9, make sure it is INTERPRETED as .9. Do not re-interpret or conform to 1.2.

    ,9 footage is 4:3. “fullscreen”.
    1.2 footage is 16:9. “widescreen”.

Interpret the footage as it is: .9 or 1.2.
Drag it into the widescreen comp. It will be cut off top and bottom.
Or you drag it in, then fit to height (cmd-opt-shift-G) so you have two black bars on the sides.

4:3 footage will not fill the screen and look correct. You have to cut it off or “pillarbox” it, with black bars on the sides.

Layer>>time>time stretch. Calculate 100*100/281, and enter that in the field. In AE, you enter length (stretch), not speed.

Search the cow for “camera shake”. If I recall, a few methods were proposed, from using the wiggle expression, to using the Quaker (Quake?) preset to shooting markers (on white) handheld, then tracking those markers and applying to the footage.

I believe you need to make the layer cast shadows so it blocks the light from hitting the background …?

Sounds like a) you’ve run out of RAM, or b) you’ve run out of disk space, or c) you’ve hit a FAT filesize limit.

If a) hold down shift when accessing the prefs>general (don’t let it go until you see the big prefs dialog) and access the secret prefs to purge RAM maybe every 5 frames.
    If b) check your disks.
If c) see my earlier post.

Did you try switching off audio for the preview? (shot in the CS3 dark)

This is probably an expression thing – try posting in the Expressions COW.

Check to see if something happens 10 minutes into the timeline — a new layer? Effect?

If you’re on Windows, you might be hitting the 4GB file size limit on a FAT-formatted drive. Render to an NTFS drive, segment the render (check the prefs), render to a TGA sequence, or render to a codec that gives you a smaller file.

Let us know if that helped.

If you just want to watch something on a hard drive, and don’t want to send it to another application for further processing, try Photo-JPEG at aqround 89%, or render to the Animation codec then use Quicktime Pro to export to H.264.

    Anybody else?
