I am trying to light a layer in a scene with a spotlight.
I would like for this light to only hit the layer I am focusing on, yet somehow, this spotlight shines THROUGH the layer and illuminates the backdrop I have, which I don’t want anymore light hitting.
Light transmission is at 0% for the target layer.

This appears to be some kind of bug. What is going on? Has anyone ever experienced this odd and unnatural behavior. This is very dissappointing that AE’s 3D capabilities are acting so unrealistically.

I believe you need to make the layer cast shadows so it blocks the light from hitting the background …?

You know, that is what I discovered. I didn’t need shadows so I thought it didn’t matter if casting was off.

    Thanks

[Riccardo Sinti] ” would like for this light to only hit the layer I am focusing on, yet somehow, this spotlight shines THROUGH the layer and illuminates the backdrop I have, which I don’t want anymore light hitting. “

Turn on ‘Casts Shadows’ for your front layer and your light. Make sure that the rear layer has ‘Accepts Shadows’ enabled and also make sure that your light’s ‘Shadow Darkness’ is set to 100%.
