A quick note to add to the following replies you got….
To just avoid these wonder if’s dilemma in the future,
and presuming you are in the videography business, i would
suggest you simply purchase a few royalty free music online,
so can can use again and again for your varied projects as
they come in. (Many are really affordable).

It can be software based from something like Sony Cinescore
to Smartsound Sonicfire or Your choice of music library that
can be found on an unending list of sites online.

Just grab a few, put them down and you are all set for now
and many projects to come without any legal worries.

As i mentioned earlier…its not for playing back your
final renders in, you wont get a smooth playback with
some video formats. The window in vegas is actually
for previewing……
(although for a smoother playback its good to have your
preview window set at…Preview (Full).

What format is your rendered video by the way?

Thats because the video already has grains…but the thing
is, when you watch certain videos it seems like their isnt
any grains present (but they are)its when a frame is frozen
you really see the grains that are embedded…and seems
even magnified.

Tell us first specifically what type of files you have
on the timeline that is behaving this way.
And to note the preview window in vegas is not for watching
your final renders on…as the name implies its just for
previewing.

Probably because you have a another software installed
that is set as a default player for those type of files…
Try right clicking one of these files (assuming they are AVI)
and choose open with…then choose program…
select windows media player from the list and tick…
always choose the selected program to open this kind of file

When you are done…go to the toolbar above and under views,
select thumbnails.

Make sure that a loop region isn’t selected on the timeline
(loop region is that little blue and yellow pointed
highlight that drags over the timeline)make sure its
not selecting any part of the video on the timeline.
BTW, what version vegas are you using?

As i last note uninstall vegas…then restart your computer…
then reinstall.
