You didnt mention earlier that you were using
Vegas HD Platinum….Unfortunatly, the Velocity
Envelope feature is only available in the
professional version of Vegas.

Use the Velocity envelope to give you that exact effect
you are looking for (right click the video on the timeline,
go to “insert/remove envelope” and select “velocity”).
Then you have a green line running thru the footage, that
is what you manipulate by adding points to achieve what
you want.(do some reading on it).

Sorry about all your hickups..but unfortunately you cant
open Vegas 10 files in vegas 9.
I still use Vegas 9 in all my workflow, Vegas 10 right
now has a bit too much issues for me to use.
