Vegas Crashes when playing AVCHD and timestreched footage, used to work fine;(
Hi,
This is driving me nuts. The last day of an edit Vegas has become very unstable. It was crashing every 20 mins or So. It has now settled down a bit but always crashes when it gets to a AVCHD clip I am using. It also crashes when I do a .16x time stretch.
The real problem is it crashes when rendering when it gets to the AVCHD clip.
The only difference is I have put in a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card. I was using the card successfully in a different PC. I have actually rolled back drivers to before I installed its drivers and even copied all the project and media onto a different drive.
Any ideas, this is driving me nuts.

Sorry I meant 1.16x timestretch causes a crash, not a .16x timestretch.

OK, more info.
I moved HD to another PC and had exactly the same problem.
I thought it may of been something to do with levels filters so I took clips that seemed to be causing problems, applied filter, exported and imported into original project. It is now using different media files but still same problem in same place!
So it is a bug in Vegas. Can I go back to 9 with same project file?

Maybe you have a bad piece of media! Does it play at 1.0 time? How about if you replace it with another AVCHD clip and stretch that to 1.16? Sometimes we think it must be something it’s not because of changes that aren’t causing the problem.

I rendered the clip to a new file in a separate project with filter and timestretch. I thin imported the clip back into the project so the clip is now different clip which is played at 100% and has no filters. It still crashed Vegas at the same point!.
I did manage to work round it. For some reason rendering as HDV 1080 50i worked. I then loaded the rendered file back in Vegas and rendered as the formats I wanted.

Sorry about all your hickups..but unfortunately you cant
open Vegas 10 files in vegas 9.
I still use Vegas 9 in all my workflow, Vegas 10 right
now has a bit too much issues for me to use.Steve Rhoden

Thanks, I do have Vegas 9 disks but is there anywhere to download latest version?
