First try reducing so many of the timelines you have in that workflow,
Then also try saving parts to vegas files and dropping them back on

Switch from what Thomas?. So what if Red Giant doesn’t support
Vegas. If one wants to use Red Giant plugin line, simply get
After Effects, thats what i do. Every editor needs a compositor

When you say video effects, do you mean presets or Vegas project files?
If its your project files, they still will be compatible with the
new version of Vegas….if its presets on the other hand, they wont be saved that way.Steve Rhoden

Which such extreme case of lagging as you described, its not
a Vegas problem….What file format footages are you working with
when this lagging problem occurs and where did you acquire them?Because you have a decent laptop which Vegas should simply glide
on…So obviously something else is the problem.Steve Rhoden
