Also, my scrolling titles seem to flicker a bit as they move. How do I prevent this?

Aha! That’s done it. Thank you.

Thanks for that – that would be great if not for the fact I’ve already edited the first 20 minutes of the gig using the first part of the tape with the timecode break, thinking I could easily add the second clip from that tape as a new angle later on and then adjust it to the correct place in the Multiclip!
This would have worked out ok if I could adjust the synchronisation of the clip in increments of, say, a minute or so at a time – as it is FCP only lets me adjust it by a few frames each time I sweep my mouse across the mat. Is there a way of scrubbing the sync with the mouse in greater increments?
Thanks,
Steve.
ps – I know…I should have planned things better!

Thanks – I thought that might be the solution – it’s a right nightmare trying to match the frames manually like that, I wondered if there was any sort of frame matching analysis facility that can automate that process?

I fixed it! I changed the field dominance of the clip from “Lower” to “Not Set”, and hey presto…all my stress disappeared into a puff of smoke!

Thanks Lee,
I already tried a different tape but no joy, and I also have all the correct leaders set up too. Everything looks fine when I play to the machine direct from the timeline, but the picture is awful if I play out to the machine using Edit To Tape. I assume it has something to do with how Edit To Tape processes the signal…
I’ll keep experimenting…
Cheers,
Steve.

When I output to the deck using the Print To Video facility everything comes out fine, it just appears to be poorer quality when I use Edit To Tape. However, I have to use Edit To Tape because I require my programme to begin bang on 01:00:00:00 timecode.
Edit To Tape tries to deinterlace the clip, or records it in the opposing field dominance. I just can’t seem to get around it…

…and verilly I did behold the light! Thank you so much for explaining this to me…on further investigation of course I found it would have helped if I had digitised my widescreen footage as an anamorphic clip in the first place, which I had neglected to do – not through forgetfulness mind, but becuase I am just a bit stupid.
Until next time, thank you very much.
Steve.

Thanks Walter – I suspected that was the best way to proceed – good to have it confirmed by an expert.
Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks for that Olivier, but I think I may have found a way around it…
I exported my timeline as an EDL, then imported the EDL into a new project and HEY PRESTO – it’s happily digitising as I type!
I’ll let you know if it all goes t*ts up by the end of the night.
Thanks again,
Best,
Steve.
