  • Vertical Alignment of Text?

Posted by Steve Price on November 8, 2008 at 2:42 pm

    Hello,

I’ve created a still title using ‘text’ – just a simple white text title with three lines ti superimpose over a scene – how do I align it so it’s in the middle of the page vertically as well as horizontally?

Seems a bit fiddly manually dragging the wireframe around until it ‘looks about right’ – when I used Premiere there was simple button to click on to centre my titles on the page, I can’t see anything similar in FCP.

    All advice gratefully received.

    Thanks,
    Steve.

Also, my scrolling titles seem to flicker a bit as they move. How do I prevent this?

Don’t use wireframe to move the text. Use the Origin button to set its position. Yes, it’s a bit fiddly unless you use something like Digital heaven’s Guides.

Use Title Crawl to make your rolling text. Look at the rendered output on a video monitor. Don’t use seriffed fonts.

    All the best,

    Tom

There is a cheap and dirty way to do this if you superimpose each letter of text and orient them so they spell something vertically. There must be a smarter, more time effective way tho…
