    Flip,

Yep. That did it, although I’m a little disappointed in the accuracy of the trace even using alpha. Do you have the default tolerance, threshold and pre-blur values for the trace menu? I’ve totally messed around with mine and can’t seem to get them back to “default”.

I’m not an FCP person, so I don’t know what “static” generators are? Also, will installing RED 4 overwrite any of the custom font libraries? I’d hate to have to go back in and re-categorize 1,100 fonts.

Is there any more information on this RED 3/4 problem? I was about to install 4 on my Media Composer PC.

With a matte key on V1, nothing on V2 and a PIP on V3 with two video clips (each having their own PIP effect) nested in an PIP effect, it still manages to pick up whatever’s on V1. Making V3 a submaster or moving the clips up into 1.x tracks doesn’t have any effect.

It would be nice to see tighter integration with Trapcode’s full suite of filters…

Any chance you’re in Draft mode? Do you have Better Quality Field Rendering checked? 1:2:1 Deflickering?

Not in front of my system, but you can generate a spline object and drop that into the mask track of your color track to generate your highlight. Probably have to invert the key and/or adjust the opacity as well. Or, drop a color correction filter onto your video track, drop the brightness a bit and use the pixel chooser to only affect an area inside a user definable space.

I haven’t kept up with the whole Avid codec issue. Is it something they intend to keep to themselves or make available to other hardware manufacturers?

I’m able to replicate this too. I had the comp window set to quarter resolution so that I could see the sequence preview to RAM. On a 40 minute comp everything was fine until 18:13:13 when it froze, yet the Current Time Frame window continued on as normal. If you put the CTI marker anywhere on the timeline it updates as normal. However, if you drag it from the beginning of the timeline it always freezes at around 18:40:00 and doesn’t update until you release the mouse.

Doublecheck your keyframes to make sure there’s nothing funky in there? Can you step to the end of the comp and have it display what you want it to?
