You need to create sequence markers and not DVD markers. And you need to add comments, due to a bit of a bug. With comments added, you should see the markers in Encore.

Since you will be using the footage in your PAL project, I suggest buying PAL backgrounds.

You can always scale it down by nesting it into a new sequence and applying the scale effect.

I don’t believe that the old style cards support HDV. For that you need the new Matrox card.

Just make the sepia effect in Premiere Pro instead. Or export as DV AVI from After Effects so rendering is not needed again.

Use the Motion effect’s Scale and Position parameters. You can go as high as 100% without degrading the quality of the picture. Since most pictures from still cameras are much larger than the size of the video frame, you need to scale them down to get them to fit. Just scale back up to “zoom in”.

After Effects will treat DV AVI the same as it does the same data rate and general format of Quicktime. It should be fine.

If you want to capture to Quicktime, I suggest using a Mac. If you want to edit on a PC, Quicktime is more trouble than it is worth. DV AVI for a PC is almost the same as a Quicktime capture, but the header differences are significant and troublesome.

I know it is possible to export a .FLV file out of Premiere Pro 2.0 but I don’t know if it faster to do it in Flash 8.
If you are editing, use Premiere Pro. For combining, you may have to experiment.
