Putting on my magical wizard’s hat, I sometimes attempt to read the minds of the people who post around here. Let me attempt such a show of magical prowess.
“stupid delay” ??? Hmmm. Could Paul be talking about the delay that takes audio and video out of sync? The one that was solved by most people so long ago that they forgot they ever fixed it?
It has to do with the “fixes” that Microsoft put into the msdv.sys file in SP2. The one from SP1 works fine.

Interlaced means you are seeing the lines on a PC that should not be there on a Television.
If you want to get rid of them for web based projects, then deinterlace it. For the TV, just leave it be.

The reason for having both dimensions divisible by 8 has something to do with the way the encoders do their job. Better quality encodes come with the right dimensions.
Just explain that to him and he should be reasonable, I would think.

First of all, I would not use 210X140 because you want both numbers to be divisible by 8. And, a 1.5:1 ratio is a bit odd in the square pixel world. Sure 720X480 is 1.5 but the pixels are not square. Square them off and it becomes 720X534.
Therefore a 4:3 image of 192X144 works out pretty nicely. So does 224X168.
Now, for something larger in a higher quality, try 320X240 – that’s pretty normal for the web.
For the low resolution you must be dealing with dialup, and I would limit the entire stream to 36K or so. Even 56K modems are not really that high in practice.
As for DSL, you should be fine with 768K, but for safety, I would stick to 512K.
CSUSB uses 42K and 300K.

Don’t be confused. This beta is not for your benefit. It is for Adobe’s benefit. The idea is for you to find as many bugs as possible. If you do not want to do their work for them, then don’t. Other people will.
There is still a “private” beta with all of the features that the public can not see. That beta will test what you can’t.
One problem is that some of the features they plan to include may not be finished. They are not releasing this for a few months. They have time to get more done.
Another problem is that some features require a third party license and they can only provide that in the private beta or they would have to pay more than it is worth in fees.
This is not a trial. It is a public beta. Test what is available. Test your pet peeves. Even with the limited feature set, there are bugs being reported on the beta forum. Take part or not, it is your choice.
Many people like the idea of providing bug reports in time to get the fix into the next release. Others will wait and complain later. Both are valid options.
Check out the new bins. Check out the Windows Vista compatibility. Check it out on a Mac. This is not a waste of time for most people. If you are exclusively HDV and have Cineform Aspect HD, there appears to be a way to make that work. If you edit HDV native, there is not much in this beta for you.
