If I were you, I would look into one of the 3rd party products that scale SD into HD frame sizes. That would allow you to scale up the 4:3 DV into 1280X720 a bit better. Of course you lose the top and bottom of the image.
Take a look at ReSizer and InstantHD
I would create the 1280X720 project and import all of the previously captured or scaled up footage into that.

You can export the movie and then edit it in Premiere Pro. You can not see all the original tracks or anything else from the FCP project.
Export as a Quicktime. You will need to render, but that can’t be avoided.

I have to agree that there are certainly better avenues for video producers than YouTube. However, I put up a simple video or two just to check out the quality. I have my own site so I don’t need to deal with YouTube, but what the heck? Get with the times, you know?
I put up a simple shot with Florida alligators. Before I took it down after a couple of weeks, it had over 10,000 views. And I never even told anyone it was there!!!!
But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a YouTube version, an iPod version, a DivX version, and any number of other options.

I am glad you got it worked out. As soon as I saw your problem with After Effects I was going to tell you about the button, but that is the great thing about the COW, there is always someone around to help out.

Since a theatrical release was cut on Premiere Pro, and it shows up constantly lately on cable, I am going to guess it is good enough for a commercial.
I know this scares the heck out of Final Cut Pro users, but that’s tough.
Good material can be cut on just about any NLE and be used for commercials.

HDV file sizes are the same as DV so no real need to use proxies. Or, are you talking about a much higher data rate?

The audio was poorly done. Ryan probably needs a better microphone. It sounds like noise was removed and what was left was not very good. There seems to be something wrong with the low end. The volume of the voiceover didn’t properly match the rest of the material and the music was often too loud in comparison to the speakers. I had trouble understanding some of it. Perhaps a mid range boost would help.
I could have turned it way up I suppose, but that should not be necessary.
I am not a fan of the change of focus shots and the branches in the very beginning were annoying. I tried to focus and was unable to do so, then I saw why. You might want to rethink the first moments. Grab the viewer.
