Suitability of Premiere Pro for broadcast commercials
I am considering buying Premiere Pro as an offline system and for occasional cuts and dissolves type programs. Is the output from this system suitable for broadcast television?

That depends on your input. If your input is suitable for broadcast purposes, then the output will be to.

Boy, I hope so…we’ve been using it now for a 3+ years to cut :30 spots. Then again…we’re just local cable and broadcast folks here!

Since a theatrical release was cut on Premiere Pro, and it shows up constantly lately on cable, I am going to guess it is good enough for a commercial.
I know this scares the heck out of Final Cut Pro users, but that’s tough.
Good material can be cut on just about any NLE and be used for commercials.

The only issue we’ve discovered with ingesting differing
formats into PPro is getting our XDCAM to import via FireWire
non-anamorphically. Although there isn’t much resolution
loss when we re-ARC it now that we’ve stopped shooting in
interlace.Darren.
