If you create a different user (system preferences – accounts) you can each log on with a different ID, and have your own set of preferences for Final Cut Pro.
You just have to make sure that each of you has access to the same media.

You might want to use Automatic Duck’s Pro Export FCP 3.0, as it has the ability to “Export your mix from FCP to your Audio Editor and maintain your volume keyframes!”

Also, there’s something called XML pro from Gallery Software that takes xml to Pro Tools sessions.

Another format.
I’m reminded of a story Robert Moog told when came down the mountain from Asheville to give a talk about the theramin.
He had a tape of Clara Rockmore performing on the theramin in her NY City apartment made in the early 60’s i believe. He wanted to release it on DVD, but he couldn’t find a machine to play the format. He had to go to Japan to a collector that restores old tape machines in order to get the information off the tape.
If you find an old piece of film, you can tell what’s one it with a light bulb.

I just recommended your DVD to a friend that inquired today about ways to learn.
There’s one mistake in the bio on that training DVD web page.
It says “and an activate presence on a number of oline forums.”
I know that you activate other a lot with your help, but perhaps it should be “active presence”

Are you using serial control with the deck? This is how the timecode would be communicated between the tape and Final Cut Pro.

I agree on keeping the drive partition names and structure identical on both sides.
I had a project where the drive copies I had were organized completely differently from the drives they had.
The relinking took so long every time I got a new project email, it would have been faster for them to describe their changes over the phone!

I don’t have this deck, but I would guess either the tape record enable slider is in the protected position, or you have a moisture condensation warning.

If you control click on the nested sequence within the timeline, you will get the contextual menu (a menu that is based on the cursor position).
One of the choices in that menu is “open in viewer”. Now you can set filters.
