Thanks everyone, and yes, I only need minutes and seconds. I’m cutting a piece that lasts 4 minutes, bu we can only show 2 minutes, and we don’t want to mislead the viewers that the event (the replacement of a DLP lamp in a DLP TV) took less than the time it actually took.

No, I believe I’m using the regular install, but I’ll check. Why would that affect Mpeg streamclip though?

Thanks for the explanation. I’m using the Sony made/branded adapter with the Memory Stick Pro HG Pro card with the HX labeling. I did a test where I just turned on the camera and left it recording. Walked away and left the room. Media error at 26 minutes. Restored the card. Continued recording. Got two more errors, before I stopped the test. This is shooting a still life, with no movement of the camera at all.

Very unsettling.

I’m more concerned about the cause, as it has happened to me, using the SONY Memory Stick Pro HG adapters.

The “Restore” the card you put it in the camera, and flip the power switch to media (not camera). You are offered the choice to restore the card there. Then the card works and I think your footage is restored, or most of it.

I don’t understand the cause, two adapters and two memory stick Pro HG cards and this has happened to both. Hasn’t happened to the SxS cards.

I’m away now, but will check it all out.

I’m still used to QT Pro on windows which requires the MPEG2 plug-in. I’ll check my mac at home (with fcp) to see if it plays MPEG 2 in QT player.

Haven’t needed it yet. Can play MPEG 2 on the windows machine, which now has MPEG Streamclip so easy to conert to Quicktime. Now what I need is something to convert .flv to .mov
