Thanks Charlie, I checked out the page, thanks for the links.
Question – what are Roles, how do I assign them?
I’m gathering if I’m importing media, and the little circle in the bottom left of the thumbnail is not gone, then I’ve imported the media?
And on a Whiny note. I clicked on some folders and it is importing the footage from within – XDCAM-EX footage, so that is lovely. However, the the folders with audio show up in the drop down of the “event” with the audio inside them, but the folders for the video do not, although the video is being imported, any thoughts?

Thanks everyone. I’m expecting the growing pains.
I’m just going to keep banging on it, until I figure it out.

You will need a deck.
Mini DV will be the cheapest.
Last I looked Digibeta was in the tens of thousands to buy.
Probably best to go to a post house.
Best.

I’m not sure about the EXfat drives (or even what that is – FAT32?). I use MAcdrive, and actually ran into problems which were all traceable to windows. What happened was on the Windows machine, the Automount file/function whatever was corrupted. No drives would automount, and this caused major headaches (and rendered LaCie ruggedized drives useless and needing to be reformatted, although not WD drives)
Sounding a little familiar????
So I have a feeling that the clients computer might have an issue – although try telling them that.

I use file import. You have down load Sony Software. Then you will get XDCAM import.
Try this link. You may have to join, but it is free.
https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/sony-software.aspx?model=pdzkp1
Also you might want to search and find XDCAM clip browser software (also free), nice to be able to play clips without having to open final cut.
This seems to be the main page:

Look we know the cycle, somebody jumps ahead here, everyone catches up and then they jump ahead somewhere else. Really – Sliding clips doesn’t cause clips to collide and they drop to another track. For me that is a “Duh” but not for the NLE designers. The old SD editor I used to use (DPS velocity) had that happen and all the users applauded – not because it was new, but because we finally had it. Oh that was something like 7 or 8 years ago. On the PC side, IVS edits plays most everything without rendering I believe (mixing sources on the timeline.) Didn’t Autodesk have that what a decade ago on Smoke? yes, but now it is affordable to all of us Joes.
Me, I like having AB tracks with a transition track. Makes cross fades sooooo simple for me. I don’t think FCP has it, and I’ve learned not to need it anyway. I think the applause were for features that we’ve wanted and now we have. The leaps forward – those are interesting, but only time will tell how much a forward leap they are. I’d be happy for a locking collar on the Thunderbolt connector.
