1. Is it now so inexpensive that people who have Adobe Creative suite or Avid, won’t just pick up FCPX
2. Will this force Adobe/Avid to drop it’s price – although I think Adobe just went to subscription.
3. Is this a true representation of price of FCP, if it isn’t bundled with all the other apps.About the “Magnetic” timeline. Great, but Damn it is about time. My previous system (DPs Velocity) had that 9 years ago, and it has been bothering me that FCP didn’t just do that automatically.

Definitely seems like making a subclip and renaming is the way to go for your work flow. As for zooming in, not sure if this is what you want, but in the Tools menu, you can select keyboard layout, and select customize. There you can make a key zoom into playhead. Perhaps this will help you.

I think perhaps flip for mac might help. The convert in mpegstreamclip is a good one.

How are you viewing it in FCP? You write t looks fine direct from camera to broadcast monitor, so is it soft on the same monitor from FCP, or are you only looking at it on the computer monitor?
I shudder at interlaced recording personally, I prefer shooting progressive. Were you shooting the Standard Quality or the Hi quality?

March 1, 2011 at 8:42 pm in reply to: So now what is the expresscard slot good for?I agree about the express card slot, but as soon as an express card reader to thunderbolt adapter becomes available, the need for an express card in the laptop kind of goes away. I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about more Thunderbolt adapters.
By the way, my biggest complaint about the express card, is the lack of positive locking on it. With the DUEL P2 adapter, it could just slide right out, ended up taping the adapter to the computer. I hope Thunderbolt doesn’t suffer a similar flaw.
Hmm might be some money in an aluminum bracket that locks the Thunderbolt cable to the computer.

If I recall, DV25 refers to the data rate. Just as DVCPro50 and DVCPRO100 are the same codec, with different bit rates for the compression.
DV25 is the codec for MiniDV

Ahh, but will it be on a separate bus?
Likewise with the USB ports, are they all on a separate bus?
How can I find out, I’ve often wondered.

[Don Greening] “Yeah I just checked mine and it reads the same: only goes to -11 dBU”
I just know there is some kind of “Spinal Tap” joke here. Maybe the Sony engineers actually do have a sense of humor.

You would think I would have just naturally checked that.
I feel so silly.
Thanks.
oddly enough though, the manual says it goes to -8udb, but I’m not seeing that, just -11udb.
Firmware 1.20 and now 1.25
