You may need to move GROW BOUNDS up in the rendering order after you add it, for it to work.

    Illustrator can come in handy.
I use 3DS Max. A lot of people are using Cinema 4D now. I have been told C4D has a better UI to learn on.

Without a true 3D app. it would be hard to do well. You might be able to pull something off using CC cylinder for circling the text. But, then you will have another problem trying to transition from the arrow on the straight path to the circular path. If you new to AE, I would not start with something like this. Try to simplify you idea that would involve the arrow coming in, then cut to the arrow circling the text. It won’t look real smooth, but should get you idea across.

Good idea. I now remember reading about this in the past. I went ahead and tried it. It did not work for me. I will remember it for the future.

It sounds like you are in 3D, and the lights are not bright enough, or you need to increase the diffuse light setting of the material.

I don’t think CC Cylinder will work for you in this case. You may need to look into the new Zaxwerks plugin. I don’t know what it is called, I am not even sure if it is on the market yet. It will bend a plane into a 3D shape.

Is it possible for you to just shoot what you need with a camera?

If you already have the pot and flowers and other stuff in your scene as you want it, you could just chromakey the dirt falling.

Thanks. That is the picture I remember. I was wrong about them sewing. I am not sure what they are doing in the picture.

Where do they hide DESGINCENTER? I can’t find it on their site.

  • Is unmultiply one of those options that come in the dialog box with GUESS? I usually select guess when it comes up, because I did not know which to select.

I will go back and re-read your reply, while testing the the different options. Thanks for shedding light on this for me.

There may have been a tutorial about this on the Adobe website a couple of years ago. They used an old sepia photo of a couple of ladies standing behind a sewing machine as the picture.

Good luck trying to find it. I always have a hard time finding anything on their site.

I went back to the site and could not find any of the AE tutorials.

Post it here if you find it.
