The other problem I often find is that because the bin is stored as a file, its length cannot also cannot be longer.
With Client’s naming systems often a bin name will need the project name, edit suite, date and then use (EDIt, Music etc.)
This often is “too” long.
Can this be changed too?

I believe there are some boris plugins for AE that will do this, So I assume that they may be available for FCP?

some people are having trouble with 10.7.3 and avid MC6.0.1 so if you have both on your machine…

Just check today.
Its an AVID thing you need an avid keyspan adaptor from the computer usb port to the deck.
The aja box RS422 does not work with Avid MC controlled decks.
Does anyone know the number for a mac with Lion keyspan adaptor for use with a sony deck?

Have a look at the response to questions on the motu forums here.
I have the V4HD for use with FCP3 ( It will not work with MC6 as it connects by firewire) I quiet like the MOTU, lots of features (many rarely used.) until I had problems,
I still have many problems not sorted or answered. ((see forum), e.g. audio sync problems with lion OS)
I don’t think non avid brand audio interfaces( m-audio) will work with the voice over tool, certainly usb interfaces present in the mac system audio i/o do not show.

If it recorded multiple versions with dates, it could almost be Avid’s attic.

What sort of media are you using? Does it load into a “clean” fcp?
I had a problem after the upgrade to 10.0.1 where for some reason it would not read my H624 files generated from a VIO POV.hd and input as linked files.
10.0.0 did read these files , and other makes of H264 did work. ( Motion would not handle them either.)My computer just went into an endless loop when trying to access events (update) with these files.
I could not even run FCX if I had a drive connected that had events with these files.
It also would not import them directly, but had a similar loop crash.Opening a project/events without these files was fine.
In the end I opened the events in 10.0.0 and transcoded all of my media to prores, to use with 10.0.1 .
Apple engineers acknowledged the problem on importing these files then 10.0.2 fixed the problem, perhaps 10.0.3 has problems with similar media?

Just a point that filler cannot be added onto the end of a sequence.
(eg extend sequence to add an audio punch in or to give a gap before next timeline clip.)I just make a black slug (disable “V” to loose transparency) with the title tool and use that.
