February 1, 2012 at 11:40 pmDo you have 10.0.3 installed? If so you can check for yourself. I mentioned this on another thread, but it’s not an autosave like you remember from FCP7. According to Larry Jordan (I think), it’s more like a disaster backup.
FCPX will now save a backup of your event and project every 15 minutes in case something happens and the real autosave function (the one that saves everything all the time) breaks. That way, at least you don’t lose more than 15 minutes of work.
I think it’s more or less something they added as a safety measure since there were many reports of people losing hours of work after they shut down FCP.
The backup folders can be found inside the event and project folders on your drives. I only see one file in my projects, so I don’t think it goes back further than it’s last save.

February 2, 2012 at 12:06 amIt’s not saving a new version every 15 minutes, but one new version of the event or project state, and it does it every 15 minutes. So there is no reverting to an earlier version from two days ago unless you made a duplicate project. Incremental versioning would have been nice. Not sure why it would have been more difficult to implement.
All the best,
Tom
