If you are capturing DVCPro50 then 2 raided Sata drives will work just fine. The decklink is much better than the Canopus card.

In my oppinion, I would go with an XL2 if you want real 24p. If you want HD then go with the FX1. I use an FX1 for my job and I think that the focus is soft, but it still produces beautiful images. If you are not going to use other lenses then that might push you towards the Xl2. If I were you though, I’d wait until Canon announces their plans for HD.

August 12, 2005 at 2:02 pm in reply to: This says nothing about 1080 24P??? only iiiiiiIt was said that the camera will record 24p by adding 3:2 pulldown. Is the pull down recorded on the P2 card? If so, why not just record 24 full frames and save space for longer recordings?

I have used premiere pro and encore to encode and I’ve had the same problem both times. Before I transcoded in encore the menu was fine, once I transcoded it corrupted the menus. I was able to work around this by locking the menu’s once the avi was on the timeline. I batch processed all the menus and changed the layer from (%)video to just video once the menu was right, that way once I transcoded it wouldn’t update the menu with a corrupted picture.

I tried that for the next 60 frames and it didn’t work. The problem has been happening at home, but I am able to duplicate the problem on my work setup which is a Dual 3.6 Xeon with a Quadro FX3400.

In photoshop you need to CTRL click your layer, then click on the paths tab. Then at the the bottom of the paths window there is a little icon that if you highlight it, it says “make work path from selection” After you click on it, it will create a workpath. Then export “paths to illustrator” under the file menu. To import it into AE you need to create a new solid, apply invigorator to that solid, it will then ask you to select your illustrator file, do so, and then check the “open as layers” check box, this will make the middle parts of letters appear correctly. Good luck.

If you are doing HD which it sounds like you are then your resolution should be 1280×720 and the frame rate should be 23.97. If you export at 720×480 then that is EDTV not HD.
