Says the Pal version is 720p, 1080i. This is the Panasonic global site. Surely they would be advertising 1080P loudly. Can’t see it anywhere…

“Features and specifications are subject to change without notice”

Is the small print at the bottom of the screen. Do you think Panasonic went a bit OTT… Any one know for definite if this camera will have 1080P?

The Camera will do a 24P capture and write that to a 1080/60i recording, much like we do in the DVX100. So if you extract the 24p you will have 1080P/24.

    Hope that helps,

I’m seeing this false rumor all over the web. For the fourth time today, let me try to put this false rumor to rest.

The camera unquestionably, without a doubt, definitely, absolutely DOES shoot 1080/24p and 1080/30p. I really don’t know how anyone can be confused on this. Look at Panasonic’s website for it here:
    https://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=93120&catGroupId=14571&modelNo=AG-HVX200&surfModel=AG-HVX200

Or, look at the new 12-page brochure — you’ll see on page 12 that the shooting modes are clearly listed.

Or, just listen to Jan, who is the product line manager for the camera and is the single most authoritative voice. Nobody knows more about the HVX than Jan does. And she says: YES 1080/24p, and YES 1080/30p.

Hopefully we won’t have to see this “no 1080p?” rumor repeated again.

    Glenn asked about PAL version.
So can I get double confirmation that it really has 24p?

No, the PAL version will offer 1080/25p. And yes it is confirmed from the New Zealand rep that the European/Australian/NZ version will indeed offer 1080/25p.

Whether it offers 720/24p is still an unknown; we do know it will offer 720/25p but as to whether 720/24p is offered as one of the variable frame rates is not confirmed yet.

[Barry Green] “it is confirmed from the New Zealand rep that the European/Australian/NZ version will indeed offer 1080/25p.”

Is it also confirmed that “PAL” version does NOT have 1080p24?

Yes, the PAL/50i version will not have 1080/24p, it will have 1080/25p.

The PAL version is what they use in NZ. It will do 1080/25P. Basically the Camera mimics what it does on the SD domain.

    Hope this helps,

[Jan Crittenden Livingston] “The PAL version is what they use in NZ. It will do 1080/25P.”

Can you tell us a technical reason, why pal version cannot record 1080p24?
