How are you viewing your timeline?

When you use easy setup, you are left with a note that states:
Settings for existing sequences will not change. New sequences will use the settings from the selected Easy Setup preset.

You need to have a Playback Output Video option for this to take effect.

You have to put yourself in Apple’s shoes. What makes more profit for them? Consumer products such as the iPad, iPhone, MacBook Air and iMac or The Mac Pro for a small percentage of professionals.

That’s not how the workflow works. You use After FX to create your comps and bring the final composition (self contained movie) back into FCP.

You can create your basic comp (multi layers) in FCP and bring that into AE to bring it to life.

Same goes for Motion. There a little more round tripping in Motion.

I’ve heard that before. 10 hours turns into 3 weeks. Has your boss edited before? He should try it sometime to see just how long it takes.

You should take a look into a couple different products to speed up your workflow.

The least expensive is from Elgato. The Turbo.264 HD

The other is the Matrox MXO2 with Max line. if you have the express 34 slot in your MBPro, you can use the device.

This will significantly reduce the encode time.

To keep it simple for you, I would say shoot in NTSC 720/60 in DVCPro HD. For the shooter it’s not that simple. The native format in Greece is PAL. If the video is going to the web only, they can shoot in either PAL or NTSC. Find out what camera they plan on shooting with and go from there.

Fortunately FCP can handle many file types. There are also different ways to convert codecs such as h.264 whether from a cell phone, Flip camera or DSLR.

Not gonna happen. You are going to need to make a h.264.

Export a Self contained QT Movie from FCP and drop that into Compressor. Choose a h.264 setting and choose 5000k data rate.

You want a self-contained Movie or a DVD?
