I returned my unit after the first try with FCP 1. You can use any DV Camcorder or Deck that alows pass thru. Just connect the a/v output from your VCR to your Camcorder or deck input then firewire to your computer.

Perfect timeing. Go with the APC. I just bought a new unit after my Tripp Lite UPS failed on me last week. If it wasn’t for Data Rescue, I could have lost all my data on my FW 800 Dual Enclosure. I have the NS 1050. It has 6 battery backup outlets and 2 surge protected outlets. You connect a data cable to your MAC so it sees the UPS. Software supports Tiger. You can manage the software to automatically shutdown your computer after a certain amount of time or percentage of battery life. I highly recommend it and also Data Rescue.

Did you try highlighting the timeline then hit shift N?

I am not on FCP 5 yet. You might want to try your different RT Settings. That works for me in FCP 4.5.

Your audio has to match your sequence settings. Most likely AIF 48khz.

Let me correct myself. Physically you can fit a maximum of 6 drives inside the G5 for a total of 2.4TB (400GB drives). The G5 Jam+ allows 4 additional external SATA drives for a total of 1.6 TB.

You can fit up to 10 SATA drives inside a G5. Check out Wiebetech’s G5Jam+. You will get incredible sustained data rates with this type of RAID configuration.

There other options to fit more than the standard stock two drives inside the G5.
