Is anyone using this to bring in VHS? I have had a Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge sitting around for a while and decided to use it to bring in an old VHS I had into FCP 4.5. I set it to non controllable device but the converter goes a little wacky after a few seconds and the image freezes. I went to the Dazzle website to look for drivers and there didn’t seem to be any. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Paul

That’s a pretty unstable device to use with FCP. Better to use something like the Canopus ADVC-100.

I tried one of those units and found it had audio crackling problems.

I nicknamed the unit “Dazzle me dorks” .

I recommend you dump the unit fast.

I returned my unit after the first try with FCP 1. You can use any DV Camcorder or Deck that alows pass thru. Just connect the a/v output from your VCR to your Camcorder or deck input then firewire to your computer.

I have two Dazzle Hollywoods. One works OK both in and out. The other is OK for input but it’s output is crap. On the first one, the audio seems to have settled down and doesn’t crackle as often.

The Dazzle is at home. At work I have two Kona LS cards. While I haven’t tried it yet, the LS is supposed to have a TBC that will correct VHS time-base errors.

I use a Pyro AV link, it works very well, even has Component Outs! Only 175.00 The stuff I capture from SVHS(DVD) looks amazing for a little old prosumer device.
