HELP! Freeze Frame Black, no picture.
FCP5 decided to stop making freeze frames for me. I was able to until a few days ago. I can still make a freeze frame if I open a single file in the viewer, but I can no longer make a freeze directly from the timeline (the canvas), it just opens a freeze in the viewer as a blank (black) screen. This becomes a problem when I need to make a freeze of a multi layered frame in the timeline. I know I can nest the layers and open that nest in the viewer and create the still from there, but that gets annoying after a while. Any suggestions???

Did you try highlighting the timeline then hit shift N?

Yes. I’ve tried highlighting the timeline, highlighting all of the clips in the timeline, highlighting the viewer, and others. Up until a few days ago I would just have to highlight a clip in the timeline and shift N for the freeze. It just stopped working.

Did you try restarting your computer.

Yes, I have restarted. I have also discarded my FCP prefs and made new prefs upon reopening FCP. I am also having other problems with the G5, that could or could not be related. It crashes on me 4 to 5 times a day for unknown reasons.
