There are a lot of factors that go into offloading times. Hard drive speed and connection type are a couple.
Contact Imagine Products and tell them your system specs to see what is causing the slowdown.

Yes, compared to SD cards, P2 cards are pricey. Don’t think of the P2 card/s as a lump sum payment. Think about the many years of use you will get out of them and the return on investment. Compare that to the price of tape if you were using it today. You would spend thousands of dollars on tape compared to P2. Look for used P2 cards. There are tons of deals out there. Log and transfer will ingest P2 footage natively. If it was shot 720p, it will ingest as 720p. Same goes for 1080i. You can not log and transfer P2 footage from 720 to 1080. If you didn’t have to render your sequence when you added the clips to the timeline, then all is good. Export a self contained or reference movie and bring that into Compressor to create a MPEG 2 or h.264 for Blu Ray.

There are a few options that can speed up h.264 encodes. The least expensive is the Elgato Turbo .264 HD. It looks like a thumb drive. Quality and speed are ok.
The next option is from Matrox. PCIe Compress HD Card or the Max option in their MXO2 io boxes. I have the Compress HD card in my Mac Pro and can not say anything bad about it. I bought it the day it first shipped. It has saved me HOURS of time encoding and the quality is spectacular. Did I mention encode time are Super Fast?
You do not need to add the Timecode Generator filter in FCP. You can add the timecode in Compressor using the timecode generator filter. Click on the filter tab in the inspector and scroll down to Timecode Generator. From there you have tons of options to change font, color and location.

The easy solution is an external hard drive (DO NOT USE USB). All you need are the original media files and the project file.

To view it properly, you will need a multiformat or PAL monitor. Multiformat monitors are very common these days.

If you took your time and converted your DV footage to ProRes, take your time and use the correct color correction. There are also 3rd party plug ins that will give you different looks. Magic Bullet Looks and Tiffen Dfx are just a couple. One Way Color is for quick and easy correction. This will not give you the correct look.
I believe in doing things the correct way. Just my opinion.
