  • VX7 is a better monitor. Here is an equivalent for $100 less:

  • It would seem obvious to use log and transfer. You need to use batch capture to re-ingest the media.

  • [Joe Sheffer] “Would there be any way of running the Ki Pro like an I/O device to set up the Cinema display as a broadcast monitor?”

The KiPro is a playback and record device. If you are just looking for a monitor out, you want the AJA T-Tap. Keep in mind, an Apple Cinema Display is a Computer Monitor, not a TV/Broadcast monitor.

[John Bennet] “GRAID connected by FW 800 probably”

It will choke with a FW800 connection. Thunderbolt RAID is what you want. Also add an additional 4GB of RAM.

May 31, 2013 at 2:26 pm in reply to: looping playback

There are many playback options. Apple TV, Various Media players, DVD, etc. To eliminate a glitch, add 5 frame black at the beginning and end of your movie. For DVD, you do not need to make a 2 hour movie. You can create a DVD with just one clip. In DVDSP, set First Play and End Play to your movie to continuously loop.

  • Archive your DV files to a Hard Drive (either RAID 1 or 2 separate hard drives). DV files are very small compared to HD ProRes Files.

You are doing something wrong. Your h.264 using a bit rate of 5000 or 6000 should be in MB not GB. Compressor has presets built in that are easy to use.

The manual is a great place to start.
