I had the same problem. I read a article someone left about MacFixIt.com about this same issue.
He went about it a bit differently, he kept iTunes 6.0.2 & deleted the Chess Game that comes with the OS & that fixed the same issue.
Not Sure how or why, but I tried it & it works, plus I don’t play Chess.

You’ll need a product called Imic from Griffin. I had the same problem. https://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic2/index.php

Lets make sure we are on the same page. When I open the Brush Palette I only see a shape to choose from & the size & Soft to Hard sliders. There is no third option for flattening that shape or to rotate it, like there was in PS6. Unless I’m looking in the wrong place.

    Thanks Again

    Rick

We are having the same problem. last week I could hit the Capture Now button & within a second it would go into record, this week it takes about 8 seconds.
We are on FCP 4.5 OSX 10.3.9 – G5’s Dual 2.5’s with 4gigs of ram, Apple’s 3.5T XServe Raids AJA LD.
I have the Raid split into two Icons on the desktop, one half hasn’t been used yet & the other is at 651gigs left. On our end nothing has been loaded or changed either.
I did a test today by deleting a bunch of old render files & some old projects. That seemed to fix it for a while, untill I started to bring another large project in & it went back to taking a long time to start recording.
Try to do a log & capture I bet it will start right away. Question was someone else editing on it & changed any settings?

FCP 45HD dual 2.7. AJA Betacam sources w TC. Just recently there is a delay from when I hit Capture Now to when the capture actually starts.

I haven’t installed anything or changed anything I think. Any ideas why the delay?

I will have to dissagree with you on that one.

We have converted all our Avid Edit Bays to FCP 4.5 with Apple XServer Raids.
Each room comes with it’s own 3.5T Apple Raid. Since they have been installed back in Jan. In the other three FCP bays when they hit the Capture Now, it starts recording within a second.
This just started last Monday, my room is the only room that this is happeninig to.

I guess the question is work flow.
I have worked in a broadcast house since the mid 70’s.
When you have to meet a deadlines in a short periods of time,
I can’t stop & put an in in & then zip to the end of my clips for the outs. (way too many tapes)
For my work flow it’s just not time efficient. OUR in house producers seem to frown apon that.

Not sure on the amount of cache on our raids
But I do remember hearing more than 512.

I wrote I’m down to 567megs of space I ment 567gigs left. My error.
The company inatlled it that way , 2 1.5T’s in each bay.
I tried to assign it to the other side, it does the same thing
a good 8-10 seconds to start in record
