    Ok, boys and gals,
just need a quick voice over in FCP. I have a mic lined into computer but the audio levels SUCK when I try and record into Final Cut.
Computer audio is boosted all the way up and all my audio levels under system preferences are set right. Doing anything wrong? Or is it FCP
    Thaks

MAC AUDIO INPUTS ARE LINE LEVEL NOT MIC LEVEL. YOU NEED TO BOOST THE SIGNAL BEFORE IT HITS THE MAC. TRY https://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic2/

You also need to keep the caps lock off so that you don’t look like you are shouting.

Yeah, the signal needs to be boosted. I use a Shure mic and a Mixer routed thru my capture card, but that is a more expensive way than the one Matt shouted about.

You’ll need a product called Imic from Griffin. I had the same problem. https://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic2/index.php

All true if you’re using a PowerMac. But if you’re using the PowerBook built in mic you need to move closer or connect a regular mic directly into the PowerBook (imic not required).
