We’ve been lucky enough to see this series on the BBC HD test channel which is broadcasting with HUGE bitrates. Quite simply the best quality HD broadcast I have ever seen.

As I understand it, they were very big on the “never been filmed before” due to the length of lens on the helicopter shots, one of the “making of shows” played up this point.

I’m sure they wouldn’t give a camera a model number they have already used!

We’ve done the same thing on a green screen studio shoot, used a Mac with an Xserve RAID and a Blackmagic card, went straight in from the camera head via HDSDI, we also recorded to tape as well as a backup.

Quality is very good and really easy to pull keys from. As a comparison we captured some of the material from the HDCam tapes and there was a visible difference in quality as well as ease of keying.

[gorgonzollas] “I have been working in this program for a few years now and I can honestly state that every day has been a new and exciting set of useless problems to solve. I simply cant wait to be back in adobe premiere…”

Good luck with that, HDV timecode has as many issues in Premiere as it does in FCP, it’s inherant in the format.

It’s not recommended that you capture to internal drives as you can get the errors you are gettting at the moment.

How full is the disk and how full is your firewire disk?

Just to be clear, have you tried capturing in HDV with the downconvert mode on the camera switched OFF?
