Of course it’s not the “Techniques” forum now it’s just the FCPX forum. Perhaps if the FCPX is taken out of this forum’s name then there will be more discussion from FCPX users on that forum as well. It would be nice to have a “safe” space to talk about FCPX without being told how great and cheap PC’s are or how bad Apple is 🙂

Hi, just used P2 (it’s been a while since I last used it!) and I copied the cards to my RAID drive and then just imported into FCPX as I would with any other footage, audio and video come in as one file all synced.
You should be able to import into FCPX straight from the cards too

Just stumbled on this thread and thought it deserves another contribution. With the recent launch of IGTV from Instagram, vertical video is once again something that we are likely to be seeing more of. Snapchat seems to be slowly fading but IGTV actually has the potential to grow, especially if it offers a monetisation option (which has been rumoured)
I’ve been shooting some test footage as well as re-editing some existing films to fit the aspect ratio (you can actually force landscape in IGTV) and it’s actually been fun! I haven’t been a fan of vertical video in the past and it’s difficult to let go of your natural urge to frame in landscape, but I like a challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing where IGTV goes!

That’s not even getting into things like lack of proper motion blur, rolling shutter artifacts, lens distortion, and the fact that a camera like an iPhone by default doesn’t record with proper synchronization. Quite frankly, the original HD image from a Canon 5D looked far more pleasing at 1:1 than any of this new crop. Even in spite of line binning.
“Sadly, in the real world. A lot of us don’t get the budgets to regularly work with “high-quality” cameras as much as we’d like.
Despite what you say there is a LOT you can do with “marginal” cameras to get the best from them when you have to.

We have those for conference shooting, in daylight my iPhone is better quality 🙂
