Are you using range select to select a section that is above the primary? If so it won’t ripple delete unless that clip is in a secondary storyline. It will only ripple delete if you mark in and out on the primary storyline.

It’s one of the tricky things when you transition from another NLE

Presumably a flag on the footage somewhere that says it was log, it’s an irritating thing that you can’t switch off by default as an option ( I have sent a request though)

Looks like FCPX is applying a LUT to your footage, if you don’t know how to remove it….

    Select all clips
Go to inspector, click the info button at the top, go to the dropdown at the bottom of the inspector window and select settings, then in the inspector window you should see an item called Camera LUT, make sure that one isn’t selected and hopefully that will fix it

Ron’ s given his reasons for removing the FCPX from the title and I seem to remember that Bill was concerned about exactly the same things?

  • [Ronny Courtens] “On the other hand, if we would be prepared re-direct the focus of this forum, I’m sure we could bring back many interesting people who have left out of frustration, and we could even attract new participants.”

But shouldn’t us actual FCPX users start having discussions on the Apple FCPX Forum (formerly the techniques forum) I think that splitting the forums has chased away people that actually want to talk about FCPX and that forum is now seen as just a place for people looking for solutions, not discussion.

We used to do that that on the old FCP “Legacy” forum, in fact it’s the thing that led me to the COW in the first place.

[Ray Bright] “Looks like View>Zoom to Sample will have to do.”

I don’t know about “have to do” it actually does exactly what you need

[Ray Bright] “Old FCP used a Plug-in that came with it that allowed you to move in to key frame and manipulate the wave on a tiny scale.”

and “new” FCPX does the same thing without having to get a plug-in ☺

[Ray Bright] ” I trying to remove a ‘clink’ against my mic on an otherwise perfect clip.

Easily done with “zoom to sample” you can keyframe at sample level easily.

  • [Rikki Blow] “i agree it’s fairly easy to do, but i could see that if you wanted a fair amount of it, it’s quite tedious and time-consuming, and there could be a way a well-designed plug-in could make it breeze.”

Yes, but if you’re having to time it to VO then that would have to be a manual process anyway even if you can make a template to input the text (which I’m sure isn’t difficult) Whenever I’ve had to do this I just create one title across the length of the sequence and then blade it at the cue points, then it’s just click each clip and type the text in the inspector, which you’d have to do even in a plugin.

  • That doesn’t need a plug-in, it’s just single lines of overlay text cut quickly to the voiceover.
